Vintage | 年份酒

When it comes to red wine, the first question that pops out of your mind would probably be “Is this poison vintage? ”. It happens on Champagne as well, to a lesser extent. A majority, 95%, of Champagne nowadays are Non-Vintage, implying that it is a mixture of grapes of various harvests and vintage years. Vintage Champagnes, on the other hand, are made of grapes of the same vintage and are way more exorbitant. For easy reference, bottles with indicated year are Vintage whilst those without are Non-Vintage. 

每當大家見到瓶紅酒時,第一個反應通常都是「支酒是Vintage嗎?」。這個詞彙其實也可以套用在香檳。今時今日,大部份(95%)香檳都是Non-Vintage的,亦即代表那瓶酒是由不同收成年份釀造而成的。反之,Vintage就是製造於同一釀造年份,價錢當然亦是要命地昂貴。普遍來說,有標明年份的通常是Vintage,沒有的就是Non-Vintage了。
